4 Signs You Need to Hire a New Office Cleaning Company

You need to make sure that your employees are happy, you have to keep a keen eye on what your competitors are doing, and, of course, you need to make sure you are hitting your financial targets. But when you are focused on so many different aspects of your business, it can be all too easy to let the seemingly small things slip — things like office cleaning.

If you have stuck with the same office cleaning company since day one, you might find that it's time to switch to a new cleaning service. Here are four signs that indicate you should seriously think about changing your service.

Your employees are taking more sick days. Of course, there are many factors that contribute towards sickness, but when you consider that most of your employees will be spending eight hours or more inside the office space each day, the cleanliness of the working environment cannot be overestimated as a contributing factor.

The best cleaning service will eliminate all bacteria from the office so that germs are not harboured. And even when the cleaning company does a good job but uses harsh, toxic products, this could also have an adverse effect on the wellness of your employees, so you might think about hiring an eco-friendly cleaning company. Also, be alert to coughing and sneezing in the office. Even if your staff aren't taking sick days, they might be feeling unwell, and not working to their full capacity as a result.

The cleaning company hasn't taken direction. At the first sign of something not being exactly as you want it, you shouldn't be too hasty in getting rid of your current cleaning company and hiring a new one. Give them the benefit of the doubt and provide some clear direction about how they should improve, whether that is paying more attention to deep carpet cleaning or cleaning windows with greater regularity. Once you have provided that direction, you should be able to see notable changes, and if you don't, it's time to shop around for another professional office cleaning service. Remember that you are the boss, and all your complaints should be taken seriously.

You need specialist cleaning work. Cleaning companies are not one size fits all, and you may find that by hiring an 'all-rounder' to take care of all your office cleaning needs you are left with a workspace that is not up to scratch in some areas. For example, if you have fluffy carpets at an entrance area of the office or in a 'snug' brainstorming room and the cleaning company that you hire doesn't have the equipment to deep clean carpets, it might be time to look elsewhere and find a company that is up to the job. Before making a decision, make a comprehensive list of all your cleaning needs so you can ensure the cleaning company you choose ticks every box for you, no matter how niche.

If the cleaning hours are going up. When you are starting out with a cleaning company, there does need to be some flexibility about the way you work together in order to achieve the best results. This means you might decide that you need to hire their services for a few more hours each week, and that is totally fine if you notice a difference in the service and the cleanliness of your office. If not, you need to ask yourself what exactly you are paying extra for. Ask your employees about their point of view regarding the cleaning service, and base your decision about hiring a new company on all the feedback you receive.

With a new cleaning company in place, all of your cleaning needs will be met, resulting in a healthier, happier and more productive workforce.
